Salesforce invests $1bn to build Mexico AI agent hub


Salesforce is injecting $1 billion into its Mexico operations over the next five years to establish a new hub for artificial intelligence agent development and a Global Delivery Center. The investment signals a significant strategic push into Latin America, aiming to leverage the region’s growing talent pool and increasing enterprise demand for autonomous AI solutions. The new Mexico City office will serve as a central pillar for deploying Salesforce’s Agentforce platform across the Americas.

This major financial commitment is designed to transform businesses into what Salesforce terms “Agentic Enterprises,” where autonomous AI agents work alongside human employees to streamline customer service, sales, and various operational tasks. By expanding its infrastructure and hiring local talent, the company aims to solidify Mexico’s position as a key market for AI-driven growth and a consultancy hub for the wider Latin American market. The initiative builds on Salesforce’s long-standing presence in Mexico, where it has been operating since 2006.

Details of the Expansion

The core of the investment is a new five-story facility located in Mexico City’s Polanco district, specifically in the Miyana II building. This office will have the capacity to house up to 2,000 employees and will be home to the new Global Delivery Center. This center is a part of Salesforce’s professional services division and is tasked with providing high-level consulting services to clients across the Americas. To accommodate a diverse client base, the center will offer its services in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

The “Agentic Enterprise” Vision

Salesforce’s investment is driven by its vision of the “Agentic Enterprise,” a business model where humans and AI agents collaborate to enhance productivity and efficiency. The Global Delivery Center will specifically focus on the implementation of Agentforce, the company’s platform for building and deploying these autonomous agents. This can include anything from responding to customer inquiries to updating company records and generating reports.

Early Adopters and Regional Impact

Several prominent companies in Latin America are already beginning to adopt the Agentforce platform and will be among the first to benefit from the new delivery center. These early adopters include the Brazilian media giant Globo, the Chilean retail operator Grupo Falabella, and the Colombian pension and investment manager Protección. The center will provide these organizations with crucial implementation support and ongoing consulting to ensure they can fully leverage the capabilities of the AI agents.

Economic and Workforce Development

The investment is expected to have a significant positive impact on the Mexican economy and its tech workforce. Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, highlighted that Salesforce’s commitment underscores the strength of the national economy and the exceptional local talent. In addition to the main investment, Salesforce is also contributing $250,000 to Amigos de Filantrofilia, a Mexican non-profit organization, to support AI education programs for students. Phil Sebok, Country Manager for Salesforce Mexico, added that the Agentforce platform is a catalyst for transformation that will help companies augment their human workforces with AI agents, creating new opportunities and revenue streams.
