Nvidia’s technology enables a seamless transition from simulation to reality (S2R), a critical step in reducing the high costs and risks associated with robotics development. Developers can create digital twins of factories, warehouses, or urban spaces to generate synthetic data, followed by large-scale imitation and reinforcement learning. This allows robots to refine their skills through millions of trials in a virtual world that obeys the laws of physics before deployment. This approach minimizes the “sim-to-real” gap, maximizing the transfer of learned behaviors to physical hardware.

Nvidia’s Physical AI stack is a multi-layered solution designed for the entire robotics development pipeline. It includes Nvidia Omniverse, a development platform for creating physically accurate, real-time 3D simulations and digital twins. Within this environment, tools like Isaac Sim are used for large-scale reinforcement learning, allowing AI models to learn complex tasks through trial and error in a safe, virtual setting. For training the foundational AI models, the stack relies on the immense computational power of systems like Nvidia’s DGX AI supercomputers. Once trained, these models are deployed for real-time inference on energy-efficient, on-robot computers such as the Nvidia Jetson series.
This powerful suite is integrated into Alibaba Cloud’s Platform for AI (PAI), an end-to-end managed service for AI development. PAI provides a comprehensive workbench that supports the entire machine learning lifecycle, from data annotation and model development to training and deployment. For the retail and beauty sector, Shiseido China has partnered with Alibaba Cloud to secure its digital operations. The company uses an AI-driven Cloud Threat Detection and Response platform to protect its infrastructure with real-time security analytics and expert threat hunting. Jerry Lin, the CITO of Shiseido China, emphasized that this partnership provides the confidence to scale the company’s digital transformation securely, allowing the team to focus on customer experiences while its cloud infrastructure is protected by advanced security measures.

In Japan, marketing firm GladCube and financial tech company FLUX are leveraging Alibaba’s AI models to drive innovation in content creation and financial sector applications, respectively.
